F.A.Q.

We are thinking of remodeling our house, when should we call an Interior Designer?
If you are thinking of remodeling your home or building a new one you should work with a designer during the initial planning stages.  An interior designer can bring knowledge and experience to the decisions made regarding room size, electrical, plumbing, and architectural details.  In most cases, we can actually help avoid unnecessary expenditure by making sure that needs are met and no errors are made along the way.

We just moved into a new house and need to furnish every room.  We may not be able to afford it all at once, what should we do?
From a designer’s point of view, it is beneficial to design all rooms at once to ensure a cohesive look throughout.  During the design process, we will discuss all areas of your home, and create a plan for future design work to be done in phases.  We would start with a priority list based on your current budget, and divide the remaining into phases of work to be done or purchases to be made later on.

I only want to redecorate one or two rooms in my house.  How much should I plan to spend?
This is a broad question and the obvious answer is that it depends on the room size, amount of furniture needed and what exactly you are looking to do.  But to give an example, a moderate priced room makeover including paint, furniture and window treatments typically ranges between $5,000 and $10,000.

How long will it take for custom window treatments?  Custom furniture?
Depending on the time of year, allow 4-6 weeks to fabricate window treatments once fabric is received.  For custom made furniture or cabinetry, I tell clients to allow up to 4 months.  Oftentimes they will be completed sooner, but each manufacturer and circumstance is different.  Tack on a few extra weeks if your timeframe is during the holiday season.
